The national leadership of the mobilization wing of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has announced the postponement of it’s mega rally earlier scheduled to hold in Cross Rivers State.
This was contained in a communique signed by the National Coordinator, Hon Iteleh Iteh, South-South Zonal Coordinator, Engr Felix Braboke, and the Central Planning Committee Chairman, 2021 South-South Mega Rally, Amb Justin Briggs.
In the statement made available to Daily Report Nigeria, the PDP Mobilizers attributed the postponement of the rally to the politically aggravated security situation in the country.
The group decried the status quo of insecurity, unfathomable agony, and hunger issues in the country, attributing them to leadership’s irresponsibility at the highest echelon of governance in the country.
However, the group affirmed its determination towards supporting its party leaders in the forthcoming elections to take over power from the All Progressive Congress.
The Communique reads:
“A COMMUNIQUE ARISING FROM THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF PDP MOBILIZERS AT CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA.
This is following the postponement of the South-South PDP Mobilizers mega rally due to politically aggravated security situations in the state.
While we are resolute to display the popularity and acceptance of the Nigerian people of our great Party; The Peoples Democratic Party, the new date of this all-important people’s rally will be made public on a later date.
We wish to also categorically state the following:
“That PDP mobilizers Nigeria is a grassroots mobilization driven support group for the Victory of our Great party.
“That we are determined to work with all Leaders and democrats of our great party to secure victory come 2023, in other to bring stability back to our dear country Nigeria.
“That Nigeria is more divided than ever before in our history, due to parochial and primordial sentiments at the highest echelon of governance in the country.
4. That the Sorry state of the country’s security has continued to put Nigerians through unfathomable hardship and agony.
“That we wish to reinforce and reemphasize the need for Unity in our party as the lifespan of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria largely depends on our party cohesion.
“That we wish to encourage the party and people of Cross river state to remain steadfast and keep faith with our Great Party irrespective of our stolen mandate at the state through a unilateral decision of one of the greatest beneficiaries of our party in the state.
“That the fight to get the Peoples Democratic Party back at the center is not only a matter of party loyalty but a fight to save the soul of the Country Nigeria.
“That our party manifesto and ideology that ensured a booming economy through creating the right and secured environment for businesses to thrive was the foundation of the policies that kept insecurity and unemployment at its lowest in our recent history.
“That we encourage all party faithfuls and eligible voters in the south south and indeed Nigeria to participate in the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise, so we can reclaim our country from those who have plunged it into the abyss of senseless bloodshed, High level of unemployment, extreme poverty and monumental corruption.
“We call on all PDP mobilizers in the south south and Nigeria to go out to sensitize all eligible voters to join the people democratic party by taking advantage of the party’s ongoing e-registration exercise.
“We wish to thank the Party leadership of Cross rivers state ably led by the state chairman His Excellency Barr. Efiok Cahbam for their unreserved support and commitment to this course of Mobilization.
“We also note with admiration the solidarity of the Northern Zone of the PDP mobilizers for the activities in build up to the postponed south south zonal rally.
“That there is hope for Nigeria, as young Nigerians have taken it upon themselves to unite under the umbrella to restore hope back to our failing state through the ballot come 2023.
“In conclusion, the PDP mobilizers support the National leadership of our great party to reposition the party through unity for the work to save Nigeria in 2023.
