At least 20 innocent civilians have been killed from an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force in Dabar Masara, a town bordering Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.
This is coming less than two weeks after a Nigerian Air Force fighter jet killed nine villagers in a Yobe community.
According to a local resident, the airstrike occurred on Sunday afternoon, when most villagers were already out on their farmlands, while others had gone fishing.
“In one of the locations attacked, we were told that 10 (dead) persons were evacuated and buried that same day.
“Maybe they mistook them for Boko Haram for which I won’t blame them; but those were our relatives and they were only out looking for their daily bread because even if they stay at home, nobody will give them food.” Ahmadu Tijjani, a local source told newsmen.
However, the Directorate of Airforce Public Relations was yet to comment on the incidence as at the time of filing this report.
