Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has been accused of using the state’s money to support his wife, Mrs Betty Akeredolu’s Imo East senatorial ambition.

The governor’s wife had declared her intention to contest for the Imo East Senatorial District ahead of the general election in 2023.

A statement issued over the weekend by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s state Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, said Mrs Akeredolu’s ambition is being funded with Ondo state’s funds.

According to Peretei: “Mrs Betty Akeredolu is desirous of joining the league of wives of former governors in the Nigerian Senate. The first was Senator Zainab Kure, wife of former Governor of Niger State, Engr. Abdulkadir Kure. Zainab was elected to represent Niger South Senatorial District in 2007 at the end of her husband’s second term as Governor.
