Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress has revealed that none of the 23 presidential aspirants was disqualified from contesting its presidential primary election.

This was revealed by the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

He made the clarification while addressing newsmen at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, on Saturday.

The clarification followed the report by the John Odigie-Oyegun-led Presidential Screening Committee, which indicated that 10 out of the aspirants were disqualified from the contest.

The report caused further panic in the camp of the aspirants following Oyegun’s refusal to reveal the identity of the 13 cleared aspirants.

However, Adamu in dousing the tension fueled by the report, noted that the 13 aspirants were only presented as first class options to the National Working Committee.

“I want to say very clearly that no aspirant has been disqualified. It’s like sitting in an exam. Even if you pass there is grading from first-class to ordinary pass.

“So, no aspirant was disqualified. Incidentally, the president has invited all of them to a dinner today,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Oyegun-led committee had stated that it only cleared youthful aspirants for the contest, leading to speculations that National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu may have been disqualified.
