Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has disclosed his displeasure with his players after their 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday night.
Chelsea beat the Lilywhites at the aggregate of 3-0 after the second round of the Carabao Cup Semi Final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Yet, the German coach said he was not happy with his Players’ performance in spite of the providential 1-0 result.
Meanwhile, the Blues have previously outshined Antonio Conte’s citizens in a 2-0 victory of the 1st leg of the tournament at the Stamford Bridge.
However, the former Paris Saint-German’s boss believed that his players needed to play much better.
The hosts saw two penalties which were ruled out as they also have a goal disallowed after VAR review.
In any events, Chelsea have booked a spot for themselves in the final to hold at Wembley against either Liverpool Arsenal.
Tuchel responded when asked if he was unhappy after the match: “Yes. It’s about our standards, not about getting results.”
“We can close spaces much better. We can control the match better.”
“We controlled the match, we had big chances. But we allowed chances from easy and sloppy mistakes and were lucky. We almost gave a penalty away for absolutely no reason.”
“The same happened for the last 20 minutes, a mixture of lack of focus, over-confidence, and suddenly we need luck to not have another penalty.”
“We need to play much better if we want to really deserve results like this.”
He added: “We’re happy with the result. In the first half we were the better team and we deserved to be up.”
“But we lost concentration and lost focus in the last 15 minutes of the first half and again in the second half. We were almost punished for lack of focus.”
“We played at 90% and that’s not our style – we shouldn’t do this. We had to work hard and it was not our best performance – we were better in the first leg.”
