Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
over allegation of fraud involving a Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contract worth N240m.

She was arrested on Tuesday May 17, by the anti-graft agency in Abuja for questioning.

The former speaker was said to have received N130m through her personal account from Phil Jin Project Limited, a firm which was awarded a N240m contract by the NDDC in 2011.

According to officials of the EFCC, Etteh had been unable to explain why the firm transferred N130m to her.
