Suspected hoodlums on Sunday invaded some streets in the Mushin area of Lagos, looting shops in the area.
The armed faction was said to have come all the way from Idi-Araba area of Lagos.
They were armed with guns, machetes and bottles and surprisingly enough, they were all teenagers between 16 and 19 years, a resident confirmed.
The commotion bears upon areas including Alafia, Daniel and Morgan.
The gang injured residents and undermined millions-worth of properties.
The invasion by the hoodlums compelled the closure of churches within the area for fear that they might be attacked.
Mitchy, a resident attributed the invasion to the arrest of a notorious armed robber sometime ago by the police, which was spearheaded by residents of the area.
Consequently, after the armed robber was released, his stalwarts reacted by avenging on his behalf with the invasion.
Mitchy said: “the fight has been going on since midnight (Saturday)and the perpetrators came from Idi-Araba. This has been happening for almost six months. But last night and today’s(Sunday) were the most violent.”
A team of policemen from the Tactical Unit of the Lagos State Police Command however, arrested about 15 suspects in relation to the incident.
Items recovered from the suspects include axes, cutlasses and expended cartridges. CSP Ade Ajisebutu, the command spokesperson confirmed incident.
Ajisebutu said:“Normalcy has returned to the area. CP Odumosu has assured residents to go about their lawful businesses. At the end of an investigation, the suspects will be charged to court.”
