The Ijaw Youth Council Western Zone has thrown shades at the Arewa Youth Assembly over the northern group’s attempt to disrespect High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.
In a statement on Friday, the IYC noted that the Arewa group shot itself on the foot for trying to blackmailing Tompolo, while demonstrating silence in the face of huge insecurity in the North.
The group vehemently declared that if a figure in the mold of Tompolo was in the North, peace would have been the order of the day.
“We make bold to say that if a figure like Tompolo was in the Northern part of Nigeria , peace would have returned by now.”
The IYC also iterated that the former militant leader was the best man to be entrusted with pipelines surveillance contracts in the Niger Delta region.
“It is on record that despite the pipeline security awarded to some firms, oil theft and pipeline vandalisation is on the rise and it is a noticable fact by NNPC and the Federal government that Tompolo is the ONLY man that can come to the rescue before our economy nosedives to a level that will take us back to the woods.”
“He has shown capacity over time and and Niger Deltans are proud and happy with his leadership charisma,” the statement added.
