A judge of an Area Court has been suspended on grounds of incompetence.
The judge, identified as Hon. Jemison Fawe, the Presiding Judge of Lunguda Area Court sitting in Guyuk Local Government, Adamawa state has been removed following orders from Chief Judge of Adamawa state, Hon. Justice Nathan Musa.
Musa, who is the Chairman of the state Jail Delivery Committee, requested the immediate removal of Fawe after the committee visited Guyuk Correctional Centre in continuation of prison decongestion on Thursday.
He had, upon observing issues at the correctional centre, ordered Fawe to report at the headquarters in Yola.
It was gathered that Fawe had jailed him when he was arraigned over the allegation of insulting his mother while exchanging words with her.
Fawe was subsequently discharged from his duties on Friday for jailing the man without a fair hearing and an option of fine.
Fawe was said to have convicted the man “without hearing a word from him” over what in his perspective happened between him and his mother.
The lucky convict and four others at the Guyuk Correctional Centre were discharged by the Jail Delivery Committee
