Nigeria’s Presidency has announced it would keep persons infected by COVID-19 at the Aso Rock Villa a secret.
The government said it’ll allow only infected persons and their doctors make information about their status public.
This was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, while reacting to the reported mass infections at the Aso Villa on Sunday.
Adesina, who appeared on Channels Television’s current affairs program, Sunday Politics, also refused to disclose whether President Muhammadu Buhari is infected and in isolation.
Asked to reveal the true state of things at the Villa on the reported mass infection, Adesina said,
“No, that will not be within my purview to discuss, maybe if you get the presidential doctor or anybody in the medical side, they will tell you.
“I wouldn’t know because it is a private thing. If it happens to anybody, it is between the person and, possibly, the doctor. It is not going to be a general knowledge. I will not be able to say it.”
On whether President Buhari was infected and in insolation, Adesina said, “I think Mr President is quite fine. He is doing his normal routine, following his normal schedule. But if anybody close to him tests positive, that person is required to stay away till he tests again and he tests negative. So, Mr President just follows his normal schedule and routine.”
212,237 infected persons have fully recovered from the disease while a minimum of 2,993 persons have died.
