Uduak Akpan, who was sentenced to death by hanging on Aug. 4 for the murder of job-seeker, Iniubong Umoren, told the court after his conviction that no one is doing anything about the “many assassinations” in Nigeria.
A State High Court convicted the murderer, Akpan, Thursday, in Uyo for killing Umoren last year, who he lured to a location with a fake job interview.
The judge, Bassey Nkanang ordered that Akpan be put to death by hanging.
After his conviction by the court, the judge asked Mr Akpan if he would like to say something to the court.
Akpan said: “My Lord, I am not guilty.”
Then the judge replied noting that the court had passed that stage and asked him to say “something” related to the case.
Akpan said: “My Lord, in our country, there’re many assassinations, but nobody is doing something about it.”
