Revered Niger Delta freedom fighter, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has been inducted into the Niger Delta Hall of Fame by the Delta Online Publishers Forum, DOPF.
The investiture was made on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Niger Delta Hall of Fame Induction and Awards ceremony, which held in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Tompolo, often referred to as the “Robinhood of the Niger Delta,” was announced as the first recipient of the award at the ceremony.
Mr. Enebeli Ochonogor Emmanuel, Chairman of DOPF, attributed the decision to honor Tompolo to the robust contribution the Gbaramatu-born former militant leader to the development of the Niger Delta region.
Keynote speaker at the event, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, former governor of Delta State, lauded the investiture, describing Tompolo as key player to every good thing that has happened to the region in the last two decades.
