11 of the bandits terrifying communities in Koton Karfe LGA of Kogi State had been wiped out by Kogi state Vigilante Group last weekend.
Other banditry suspects were apprehended and kidnapped victims were discharged.
The arrested suspects were in the custody of the Department of State Service, DSS.
Surprisingly enough that one of those nabbed was personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
He answers Inspector Abdullahi Saidu and was allegedly supplying information and weapons to the bandits in company with a civilian accomplice.
The killing and arrest of the suspects followed the intelligence report.
According to a source: “Alaidi is their ring leader. He was killed during the first camp attack. Rabo and seven others were crushed. Madei and one other were killed in the second kidnappers’ camp while Umar escaped with gunshot injuries but was recaptured.”
Muhammed Onogwu, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, disclosed that the tour de force was evidence of strong security architecture always at the alert to nullify all forms of crimes and criminality in the state.
Muhammed traced the vigilantes’s countless breakthroughs in Kogi to the state Governor, Yahaya Bello who had always given them backing.
Likewise, the improvement on the part of the local vigilante wouldn’t have been without the cooperation from the citizen and combined actions with the security personnel.
Muhammed had this to say:“Governments at all levels will continue to make efforts towards sustaining the drive for a peaceful Kogi state by making every nook and cranny of the state unsafe for criminal elements and their sponsors.”
