2023: We Have Not Zoned Presidential ticket – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has stated that it has not allocated its presidential ticket for 2023 to any region of the country.

Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary, stated this in a statement on Saturday titled, ‘2023: We Have Not Zoned Our Presidential Ticket – PDP.’

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former PDP member who defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2021, claims that the PDP has already zoned the party’s presidential ticket to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

However, in a statement, the PDP stated, “The Peoples Democratic Party’s attention has been drawn to comments and speculations from certain individuals claiming that our party has zoned its presidential ticket to a specific part of the country.”

“This is completely false and does not represent the position of our party in any way.”

“To avoid any misunderstanding, the PDP emphatically and unequivocally states that it has not zoned its presidential ticket to any part of the country.”

“The PDP is a political party founded on democratic principles, and every action of the party, including zoning, is based on extensive consultations, discussions, and consideration of all issues as well as various tendencies and interests across the nation, with the main goal of ensuring that our nation’s unity, peaceful coexistence, and development are reinforced and promoted.”

“As a result, the PDP urges Nigerians, our throngs of members and supporters, to completely disregard the unfounded zoning claims being peddled.

“Our party also warns those making the claims to stop immediately.

“The PDP thanks Nigerians across the board for their overwhelming interest in our party as their sure platform to Rescue and Rebuild our Nation from Misrule, and urges them to stay united and focused as we join forces for the task ahead,” he added.
